Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy Q&A

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state and is a combination of deep relaxation and focused concentration.

The hypnotic state is the stage between being awake and being asleep. This is a natural state that everybody experiences daily, just before waking up from sleep or just before falling to sleep.

There will be many other times that you will have experienced being in hypnosis. Times that you have been awake with your eyes open. Have you ever driven your car and not remembered driving through the lights because you were daydreaming? Or, have you ever been so focused on reading a book or watching TV, that you haven't heard someone talking to you? These are times that you have been in a level of hypnosis.

What does it feel like when in hypnosis?

When in hypnosis, you will feel relaxed. You will be still in control and will be able to communicate and move your body parts, if you wished to do so. You will also be aware of other noises around you.

What is the conscious and subconscious mind?

The conscious mind is the part of the mind that we use to think, anlayse, make judgements. The subconscious part of the mind is the bigger part of our mind. It is where all our learnings, experiences, memories and emotions are stored. It is this part of the mind that also controls our bodily functions.

What is Hypnotherapy?

An Hypnotherapist will help and guide the client to go into hypnosis. When the client is deeply relaxed and in an hypnosis trance, the subconscious part of the mind can be accessed. The Hypnotherapist will use suggestion and other hypnotherapy techniques, to help the client overcome their issue, or to help them achieve their desires and goals.

Who can be hypnotised?

Anyone who is willing to. However, hypnosis and hypnotherapy is not suitable for people who suffer from epilespy, or for people who have severe mental health disorders, or very young children.
